Specializing in interior furnishings, conceived as metaphors of a world under construction, where matter, light and technology interacted in an innovative way, Simone Michelifamous internationally renowned architect and designer, honorary academic ofAcademy of Drawing Arts of FlorenceAnd died at the age of 61. The funeral will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 30 December, at 3pm, in basilica of San Babila in the square of the same name in Milan.
Born in Viareggio in 1964, Micheli graduated in architecture atUniversity of Florence in 1989 with a thesis on “Florence. Interior architecture for commercial use. Contemporaneity and perspectives”. In the early years of his career he had the opportunity to learn from great masters such as Giovanni Michelucci and Bruno Zevi, experiences that profoundly influenced his design approach.
After founding his own architecture studio in 1990, in 2003, together with his wife Roberta Collagives life to Simone Micheli Architectural Heroa company with offices in Florence, Milan, Puntaldìa, Dubai, Rabat and Busan. His professional activity has developed between architecture, interior design, contract, exhibit design, product design, graphics and communication, with projects carried out all over the world and numerous national and international awards.
Micheli was known for a vision of architecture as an ethical mission: to constantly redefine the relationship between man, space and technology, with particular attention to sustainability and sensorial experience. Among its distinctive features, the management of corners, the predilection for absolute white and the use of bold materials and colours, capable of transforming spaces into scenographic and dreamlike environments. In addition to his profession, Micheli has had an intense academic career: he was an assistant at the University of Florence, visiting professor at various European universities and adjunct professor of furniture at the University of Florence, as well as teaching at the Poli. Design and at the Polytechnic School of Design in Milan. His lessons and workshops have trained entire generations of designers, with the aim of transforming living into a critical and creative process.
