LIVORNO – There was even a gloomy drizzle trying to ruin the 25 April, the anniversary of the Resistance. Yes, because for his 79th birthday this date risked being divisive and indigestible and, to paraphrase the good Virzì, it resembled “a boiled egg that goes neither up nor down”, like the term “anti-fascism”, boycotted and said to in a low voice, whispered softly so as not to be heard too much because you never know…

Not in Livorno, in our city, the most beautiful date in our calendar was celebrated with all the honors because it is the day that celebrates newfound freedom and the awareness of our democratic values after the war and Nazi-fascist violence.

Mayor with sash, aspiring mayors perhaps with umbrellas, councilors, various associations, workers, authorities, simple citizens participated in the great collective celebration, almost a liberating rite to fully enjoy a much loved and desired day.

Among the various demonstrations present in our city, there was the one in Antignano squarepresented by Daniela Marini of “Vivi Antignano” and with her many citizens who braved a stepmother’s day and who did not want to miss it, including Mayor Salvetti.

In the afternoon at ARCI Norfini Clubthe CambiaMenti association and the Historical Institute of the Resistance honored the 79th anniversary of the Liberation with meetings, debates and testimonies, in which the singer-songwriter also participated Lorenzo Taccini.

But the backbone of these two moments was the participation of Choir of the Garibaldi Assault Brigadesdirected by Pardo Fornaciarian indomitable and “passionate” character from Livorno who for 12 years has led with enviable energy and authority a colorful group of singers to whom he has transmitted his passion for social singing: Pardo, musician and scholar, lover of popular music, brings his concerts some often unknown texts that cry out the struggle, the pain, the protest of those who for a long time had no voice but who can thus express themselves through memory.

But what distinguishes this singing group and its Bard… Pardo, you’ll excuse the easy calambour, is the emotion they convey when they sing, the emotional and collective passion which involves the audience who sings with the choir, gets excited, participates because the collective ritual of the theater is repeated on stage, that is, seeing each other again through others. It doesn’t matter to be in tune, says Pardo, goodness of him, but you have to have passions to convey and there really is no shortage of them here.
