Investigation into rescue operations in Cutro, deadlines expire on May 29th

There are six suspects, the expert opinion of the prosecutor’s consultant is missing

The deadline to close the investigation into the alleged delays in the rescue of the gulet Summer Love which sank in Steccato di Cutro on 26 February 2023 will expire on May 29th.

By that date the deputy public prosecutor of Crotone Pasquale Festa will have to file the documents for the conclusion of the investigations unless he requests an extension.
The investigation currently involves six people in total.

The alleged crimes are failure to perform official duties, negligent shipwreck and manslaughter. Three are officers and non-commissioned officers of the Financial Police: lieutenant colonel Alberto Lippolis, commander of the Vibo Valentia air-naval operations department, lieutenant Antonino Lopresti, of the same Roan, who was the operator on duty the night the shipwreck occurred, and Colonel Nicolino Vardaro, commander of the Gan of Taranto. Their names became public when prosecutor Pasquale Festa issued a computer search decree against the three financiers in June 2023.

With them there are three other people under investigation whose names are omitted.

At the conclusion of the investigations, the report from the prosecutor’s consultant, Admiral Salvatore Carannante, is still missing.
