Putin «crowned»

(by Luca Angelini) For the fifth time, again on May 7th, Vladimir Putin walked the long corridors of the Grand Kremlin Palace for take an oath on the Constitution and take office again as president of the Russian Federation. Twenty-four uninterrupted years of power, even if for a short time he had to resort to the stratagem of putting someone else in his place (Dimitri Medvedev) and going on to fill the position of prime minister. The Patriarch Kirillhead of the Russian Orthodox Church compared him to Alexander Nevsky, the holy leader who «bravely defended his people on the battlefield». Kirill then wished Putin to remain in office almost for all eternity: «God grant that the end of the century (but in Russian it can also mean the end of times, ed.) marks the end of his stay in power».

Putin spoke only for a few minutes, starting with a thank you to the “heroes”, to those who “fight for our homeland”. He wanted to reassure Russians that the objectives of economic growth and well-being for all will certainly be achieved. He repeated that Moscow does not refuse «dialogue with Western countries». And he immediately added: «We are ready for negotiations, including on security and strategic stability; to a comparison that takes place without arrogance, arrogance and feelings of superiority».

From Ukraine, meanwhile, it is claimed that Russian secret services had a plan to assassinate President Zelensky just yesterday. Two colonels of the security apparatus that monitors the lives of Kiev’s personalities have been arrested.
