The Guatemalan authorities raided the offices of Save The Children following a complaint presented to the public prosecutor for “alleged child abuse”. He makes it known Afp. The same NGO confirmed in a note the blitz of the authorities at its headquarters in Guatemala City, also specifying that it had not been informed of the specific accusations. «We are shocked and appalled by the unprecedented search of our offices. There is no evidence to support any accusation of misconduct” supported by the Prosecutor’s Office, the statement reads. The operation began after the “anonymous” complaint, explained prosecutor Rafael Curruchiche. The Guatemalan Prosecutor’s Office has asked the Texas Prosecutor’s Office for data to investigate alleged trafficking of Guatemalan children at the southern border of the United States. “This is an operation of great significance, as it covers actions that could be linked to violations and abuses against Guatemalan children,” Curruchiche specified in a video released on social media. The Prosecutor did not provide details in this regard and simply indicated that “support” was requested from the Texas Prosecutor’s Office in the investigation.
