Run to Squillace 2024, Danilo Ruggiero and Francesca Paone dominate

Danilo Ruggiero of the Circolo Minerva Asd in the men’s field and Francesca Paone of the Hobby Marathon Catanzaro among the women are the winners of the Corri a Squillace road race organized by the Run for Catanzaro chaired by Francesco Benefico and Csain Regionale with the collaboration of Fidal and with the Municipality of Squillace which celebrated its third edition yesterday.

The sun, the wind, a spring climate were the backdrop to the competition in which over 250 runners from all over Calabria took part in the various categories and around thirty companies, a participation which, as regards the competitive aspect, was the largest of the various editions.

The event, held on the two and a half kilometer circuit of the Squillace Lido seafront to be repeated four times, was also valid as a single event of the Csain regional championship (Corporate and Industrial Sports Centres). Ruggiero dominated the competition and finished with a time of 31 minutes and 52 seconds and preceded Emanuele Sesti of Libertas Atletica Lamezia by almost two minutes and Thomas Fekre of Corricastrovillari by a further thirty seconds who occupied the third step of the podium.

Even more overwhelming was the victory among the women of Francesca Paone, who had already won in last year’s competition and was fresh from her flattering participation in the London Marathon.

The Hobby Marathon runner dug a furrow with the second place, her teammate Eugenia Strano, of about four minutes. Third woman at the finish line Sabrina Gioberti of Kos Running.

Finally, here are the athletes who achieved success in the various age groups. From these rankings, as usual, athletes with podium placings in the overall category were excluded.
