What are your thoughts on Israel’s response to Iran?

«The principle of retaliation was applied. Israel, in Gaza, had no regard for the proportionality of its response. Now, however, he had to suffer it. Despite being the subject of a massive attack, designed to cause damage, he had to contain the reaction. Iran’s choice, unlike what many want to make it out to be, was not a joke or a staging.”

However, no damage was done in either operation.

«Nothing was damaged on the Iranian side because they didn’t succeed. On the Israeli side, however, because they didn’t want to. Israel, by deliberate choice, decided not to harm Iran. A decision that cost the government of Jerusalem a lot. For the first time, he went against his very nature.”

Isn’t this a sign of weakness for Netanyahu?

«It’s a sign that moderation is finally starting to gain ground in those latitudes too. The size and nature of the latest attack are far less than symbolic.”

Won’t there be an escalation? How will the conflict continue?

«I exclude one of a traditional nature. I can’t imagine how a country, such as Iran, with military capabilities in need of upgrades and technologies that are not particularly significant could do this. On April 13, a fact came out: Israel’s skies are impenetrable. Anyone who intends to attack him on that field has no chance of success.”

So how do the Pasdaran plan to stop Israel? A naval landing?

«This is absurd. However, there could be a conflict of another nature. Iran could make use of a more extensive use of the resistance axis. There may be a weapon in the background, so far dormant, but with potential superior to all others. I am referring to terrorism. Through the radical Islamic call to arms, the aim is to reawaken those lone wolves, who have never disappeared and who can make the entire West worried. Attention to the rooting of a new doctrine.”

But the Iranians are not seen so well by the entire Islamic world. Just think of the historical differences between Shiites and Sunnis.

«In all sectors of work, action and therefore also belief, a very precise line of demarcation is becoming apparent. The same happens with terrorism. What scares us must not be the consequences of the reprisals between Iran and Israel, but the rooting of a separation of fronts and coalitions. The perception of a marginalized Iran creates new alliances, which are currently only conceptual. It cannot, therefore, be ruled out that in the near future they could become structural and we could find the Shiite world against the Sunni one.”

Are you a great global mediator who can put out the fires?

«If we need to turn to someone who has so far shown wisdom, foresight and moderation, it is China. Let’s take back that famous 12-point plan. It was shelved, but it should be revived. Thus there could be a negotiation platform for a ceasefire at least on the Russian-Ukrainian front. A clear signal would be given: there is someone on the planet capable of bringing order on the various fronts.”
