ISIS threatens attacks on quarterfinal stadiums

Various Spanish media reported this, citing the channels for disseminating the messages of the Islamic State

There is an attack alarm on the quarter-finals of Champions League scheduled between today and tomorrow. In fact, ISIS has threatened attacks against the stadiums that will host the first leg of the quarter-finals through the media outlet ‘Al Azaim’: in a photo of the four stadiums in which this week’s matches will be played – Emirates Stadium in London, Parc des Princes in Paris, Civitas Metropolitano and Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid – the words ‘Kill them all’ stand out. This was reported by the Spanish ‘Onda Cero’. Various Spanish media reported this, citing the channels for disseminating the messages of the Islamic State.

According to ‘Marca’, the Spanish police have been aware of the risk of attacks for days and there are no changes planned for Real Madrid-Manchester City and Atletico Madrid-Borussia Dortmund: for the latter, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior has already taken special surveillance countermeasures because it is considered a high-risk race regardless of the threats from ISIS.

For security reasons, the final in Cardiff which was played by Real Madrid against Juventus was played in the Millennium Stadium with the roof closed, by decision of UEFA, due to the threat of possible drone actions from above. Police sources assure that the situation is under control and that the threat is not a cause for alarm, as the Islamic State has repeatedly claimed major sporting events as one of its objectives. But it will be the competition committee with the public security authorities who will decide whether and how to strengthen prevention measures in the two Madrid stadiums in the next few hours.
