Tragedy on the open sea. They would be at least 96 the dead of the shipwreck which occurred on Sunday 7 April off the coast of Mozambique, where a fishing vessel with 130 people on board is sunk.
They were all desperately trying to escape from acholera epidemic: for the occasion, in fact, the boat had been converted in ferry.
Confirmation of the number of victims was given by Silverio Nauaito, administrator of the small island off the northern province of Nampula, where the tragedy occurred.

There would be many children among the dead in the shipwreck: the ship – which set sail forIsland of Mozambique – would have sunk “because overcrowded And unsuitable to transport passengers”, explained the Secretary of State of Nampula, Jaime Neto.
Most of the passengers were trying to escape from the mainland due to the panic caused by the disinformation on cholera, added Neto.
