2025 ends with an interesting balance sheet for Italian fictionbetween solid confirmations and some disappointments. Rai can boast a year full of successes, confirming its leading role in the national television scene.

From the return of great classics to innovative productions, the first evenings recorded notable ratings, even if not all the titles won over the public as expected.

Leading the ranking of the most followed fiction we find The Count of Monte Cristothe miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Alexandre Dumas. With an international cast led by Sam Claflin and with Lino Guanciale in the leading role, the production achieved record ratings, an average of over 5 and a half million spectators and peak shares of 29%. The attention to detail, the evocative settings and the quality of the acting have transformed the miniseries into a true television eventappreciated even by the most demanding public.

It comes in second place Sandokanthe new series based on the novels by Emilio Salgari, with Can Yaman (what will be his next TV series after Sandokan?) in the role of the famous Malaysian Tiger. The series attracted an average of 4.6 million viewers, reaching a 28% share, confirming itself as a true phenomenon of the year. The adventure, action and charm of the protagonist have captured the attention of a transversal audienceproving that adventure stories still have huge potential.

Very good too Mina Septemberwhich achieved excellent results with its third season. 4.5 million average viewers and 25% share. The fiction with Serena Rossi seems to know no limits and continues to gather acclaim both from the point of view of critics and the public.

Also not to be forgotten Blancawith Maria Chiara Giannetta, which closed the season with a real ratings boom: 4.2 million viewers and a 25.3% share for the last episode, confirming itself as one of the most commented series on social media.

Inspector Montalbano continues to be a fixed point for Rai. Returning in a repeat on the occasion of the centenary of Andrea Camilleri, Luca Zingaretti confirmed his magnetic charm and ability to attract millions of spectators even in a program already seen. The series remains a guarantee for the schedule and a certainty for the loyal public.

However, there was no shortage of missteps. Among the most relevant flops of the year is Miss Fallaciminiseries with Miriam Leone in the role of the famous journalist Oriana Fallaci. After an encouraging debut with a share of over 18%, the drama progressively lost viewers, falling below 13% and disappointing expectations. A result that generated criticism towards the protagonist and demonstrated how complex it is to conquer the public with television biographies.

Also surprising is the absence of But Tataranni from the Top 3. The series with Vanessa Scalera remains a quality title, but for the moment it has not been able to replicate the great results of the previous seasons. This shows that, even for consolidated productions, prime time remains an open and competitive challenge.
