Filming has begun in Belfast on the second official spin-off of Game of Thrones after House of the Dragon: it will arrive in 2025.

Make room for a new knight in the world of Game of thrones, Ser Duncan the Tall. You see it, played by Peter Claffeyin the first official photo of the spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The new series, which will arrive on HBO and in Italy on Sky and streaming on NOW in 2025, will tell another story of the universe created by George R. R. Martin and set about a century before the original series (consequently about a century after the events of the first spin-off House of the Dragon). Filming has just begun in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and HBO has announced several additions to the cast which reach the protagonists Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The plot

A Knight of the Seven Kingdomslong 6 episodes, is set in a time when the Targaryen lineage still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from the memory of the living. It focuses on the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire Egg. “Great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous deeds await these unlikely and unparalleled friends,” reads a first synopsis released by HBO. The series is based on the book Knight of the Seven Kingdoms which is a collection of three novellas: The errant knight, The sworn sword And The mysterious knight. The first season will be based on the first story and will focus on Dunk and Egg’s first meeting during a tournament at Ashford Meadow.

The cast

Five new actors recently joined the cast: Sam Spruell (Fargo) as Maekar Targaryen, Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country) as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel (The Crown) as Baelor Targaryen, Daniel Eng (Sex Education) as Ser Lyonel Baratheon and Tanzyn Crawford (The little things in life) like Tanselle.

It was also announced that Sarah Adina Smith (Chemistry lessons) will direct three of the six episodes of the first season. From previous news we know that Owen Harris (Black Mirror, San Junipero) will direct the other three. The series is written and produced by the author of A Song of Ice and Fire George RR Martin and Ira Parker and also involves the current showrunner as executive producers House of the Dragon Ryan Condal, Owen Harris himself, Sarah Bradshaw and Vince Gerardis.
