Despite Cannavacciuolo’s help, one of the Cucine da Incubo restaurants closes

The restyling of Cucine da Incubo and the Cannavacciuolo menu did not work for one of the most popular restaurants on the program, which is closing after twenty years of activity.

It would be nice if a TV program could truly save the fate of a business and the lives that revolve around it, as if it were a fairy godmother with a magic wand in front of Cinderella. The godmother, chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo in this case, he used his own hands to work miracles during Hells Kitchen… but it wasn’t always enough: in fact, one of the restaurants closes its doors.

2023 season on Sky, an episode like many others: desperate staff and owner, menus and dynamics that worked poorly, everything slowed down, broken dreams. The total restyling seemed to have brought the wind back to the main restaurant’s sails, but this is not the case. The sign at the entrance speaks clearly, with the words “For rent” closing prelude. What happened?

From nightmare kitchens to definitive closure

Let’s talk about the Palermo area and that restaurant specializing in fish in Misilmeri, The Sailing Ship. The owners opened it in 2004 and lately business has been struggling, partly due to the disorganized service and partly due to the character of the owner Letizia – or at least, this emerged from the episode, let’s remember that it is still a TV program to entertain exactly like Quattro Ristoranti and the daily life of a business cannot be judged by 20 minutes of footage. In any case, curiosity is high, what happened to the restaurant, which he seemed to have awakened thanks to the intervention of chef Cannavacciuolo?

Palermo Today interviewed the owners Letizia and Simone Billeci, to understand what lies behind that lapidary and funereal “For Rent” located at the entrance of the restaurant. They limited themselves to talking about one personal choice, without making any mention of problems or even the program in which they were protagonists not long ago. The magazine All Food Sicily reports how the restyling proposed for the relaunch of Il Veliero in Misilmeri did not last: the owners changed the Cannavacciuolo menu.
