Roberto Saviano returns to Rai with his investigations (perhaps) in the autumn

Roberto Saviano will return broadcast on Rai with his investigations (maybe) in autumn. This was announced yesterday in the Rai Supervisory Commission by the CEO Roberto Sergio, saying that he had asked the Director of Distribution, Stefano Coletta to find a place to “THEnsider, face crime” in the summer or winter schedules.

In July last year, Rai blocked its broadcast even though the four episodes, already recorded and already paid for, were scheduled for the following November on Raitre. Sergio made this decision after taking note of some statements made by the writer to Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, regarding which Forza Italia had presented a question to the Rai Supervisory Commission, requesting the suspension of the programme. At the basis of that choice was the consideration that the language repeatedly used by the journalist would not have been compatible with the Ethical code which inspires the public service.

Saviano learned of the cancellation from Courier and called it “a political decision that is part of the broader strategy of using legal actions as a lock to prevent you from working.”

Today Saviano says not even being made aware of the reinstatement of his program. A reintegration which, it must be said, it remains hypothetical: the summer schedules have already been closed and the winter ones, mentioned by Sergio, and, before that, the autumn ones, the next council will deal with thisgiven that the current one expires in a month.

The question therefore remains pending. To understand it better we must remember that last May 2nd the relatives of the victims of the mafia (which is discussed in Insiders) had written to Sergio asking for an explanation of why, despite the reassurances obtained in a meeting last October, Saviano’s investigations were not yet on air. As well as the documentary «I know who you are» on Vincenzo Agostino, the man who led a long battle in search of the truth about the killing of his son and daughter-in-law, who died last April 21st.

Sergio dedicated a farewell post on Facebook to Agostino on the occasion of his passing, announcing the broadcast, next May 24thof a first and second evening on Rai3, dedicated to the victims of the mafia and hosted by Riccardo Iaconawhich would have introduced the documentary, already available on RaiPlay.

Yesterday Sergio, in giving the green light to Saviano in the next schedules, announced theimminent broadcast of the documentary on Augustine: “I have fulfilled the commitment made eight months ago with the relatives of the victims” explains the CEO today.
