Fans of Friends will surely remember the name of Giuliano Peparini for having been, for several years, the artistic director of the Canale 5 talent show, hosted by Maria De Filippi. In the latest editions, his role is instead covered by Stephane Jarny. But, in addition to this well-known television role, Giuliano Peparini’s career is enviable and his name is counted among the most appreciated Italian directors and choreographers.

The enviable career of Giuliano Peparini

Giuliano Peparini was born in Rome on 3 January 1973 and when he was only 24 years old he had already become principal dancer of the Ballet National de Marseille.

At a very young age he was not admitted to the Rome Opera House. For this reason, at just 16 years old he left Italy and headed toAmerican Ballet Theater in New York. In 1990, upon returning to Italy, he received the role of Marc in the Italian edition of “A Chorus Line”. He was noticed and appreciated by Roland Petit who, a few years later, in 1997 nominated him “danseur étoile” (i.e. the first dancer) of the Ballet National de Marseille. A real consecration that gave a turning point to her career in dance. The following year she presented her first choreography at the Opéra municipal de Marseille entitled “Horses” before becoming Roland Petit’s assistant and maître de ballet.

In France his success is immense and he creates more and more theatrical shows. He returned to Italy in 2012 with “The Prince of Youth” and “Romeo and Juliet – Love and Change the World” as well as a new adaptation of “The Nutcracker” at the Teatro Dell’Opera in Rome (precisely where he received the No admission when very young). From 2013 to 2019 he is the most appreciated artistic director of “Amici di Maria De Filippi” in the evening episodes, broadcast since March. She also collaborated with the presenter for the program “House Party”, which aired only for a few limited episodes (De Filippi was supported by a different presenter, from Sabrina Ferilli to Francesco Totti). In 2021 she choreographs, in collaboration with the sister Veronicathe high fashion show for Dolce & Gabbana in Venice and the following year for the one scheduled in Syracuse. In December of that same year, however, she took care of the choreography of “Uà-Uomo di vari ages”, a show Claudio Baglioni broadcast in prime time on Canale 5. He said he decided to abandon Amici, after many years, due to various work commitments that would not have allowed him to follow the various projects at the same time: “I decided, after careful reflection, to stop for a while ‘ with this program and not to accept the role of artistic director to give space to other projects that I had put aside and which will lead me to travel a lot, but above all to bring a bit of Italy to the world”. But he appreciated that role and “would do it again tomorrow” despite the serious commitment with 150 paintings (for the dance) designed and created for each season of the Amici evening show. Even the choreographer’s sister, Veronica Peparini, he worked on “Amici di Maria De Filippi” in the role of dance teacher alongside Alessandra Celentano and Timor Steffens.
