“There will be three televised New Year’s Eve celebrations Rai in Calabria. In addition to the one done this year in Crotone and the one planned for 2025, there will also be the one for 2026.” This was announced by the president of Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto meeting journalists in Lamezia Terme for the mid-term budget.
“The Board of Directors of Rai – said the Calabrian governor – has decided to comply with our request to extend this agreement by one year. I don’t know yet where we will host these two appointments but they will certainly be held here.”
Occhiuto also said that “this promotional work on Rai della Calabria will also continue until 2026, which until now has brought the best Calabria into the homes of Italians with 100 million contacts with all the other broadcasts. I believe it is one of the most profitable investments made in the history of the region.
Many times in the past resources for territorial promotion were wasted to the point that if today the resources spent were parameterized with the number of contacts we would be aware of the fact that no investment for territorial promotion has yielded as much as this one done by Calabria with Rai in these two years.”
Less than a year ago, President Occhiuto, in announcing the agreement for the two Rai New Year’s Eve celebrations in Calabria, anticipated that one would held in Reggio Calabria.
In light of the new agreement, with the Rai event scheduled for another two editions, it is probable that after Crotone one of the two editions will be held on the shores of the Strait even if no official announcement has yet been made regarding the location chosen for New Year’s Eve 2025 .
