The strike includes television networks, software houses, media centers, newspapers and all market players interested in the data. The company in a note: “Our company is currently involved in a reorganization process which affects the entire Nielsen Group, as part of which a staff reduction procedure has been initiated. This has opened a phase of delicate dialectics with the trade unions which has currently caused the proclamation of a strike for the next few days until April 29th”.
Nielsen reports that “our main commitment is to minimize the effects of the strike on our customers, trusting that it will be possible as soon as possible to start a constructive dialogue with the workers’ representatives, as has already happened in the past”. The strike will therefore lead to the halting of the viewing results of the editorial and advertising TV schedules until April 28th, without prejudice to the time slots:
We specify that a pro forma schedule will be distributed in order to allow all processes (both internal and possibly programmed by customers) to be processed as usual. These days will in fact be provided after the date of April 29th and according to a plan that we will communicate to you as soon as it is available, while the service will be fully re-established starting from the day of April 29th. We apologize for the inconvenience and we will take care of keeping you updated and keep informed about the evolution of the situation.
Reduction of staff, relocation of some functions to countries with fewer guarantees for employees and lower labor costs: these, in summary, should be the reasons for the strike.
