There majority has decided: there will be none audition in Supervisory Commission of the director of Rai Insights, Paolo Corsiniand the presenter of What will be…, Serena Bortone. After cancellation of the writer’s monologue on April 25th Antonio Scurati to the Rai3 program, the proposal was made by Stefano Graziano of the Democratic Party and supported by all the parties of opposition. But the right voted against, with the motivation of wanting to wait for the outcome of theinternal investigation. The opposition’s request to listen to Corsini and Bortone after the hearing of the opposition did not even pass Rai top management scheduled forMay 8th.

“Even just the hypothesis of one censorship towards a writer is not compatible with the concept of public service and with the deepest principles of ours democracy“, wrote the president of the Rai Supervisory Commission in a post published on social media, Barbara Florida. “For days on TV and in the newspapers – writes Floridia – there has been no talk of anything other than the case of the exclusion of the writer Antonio Scurati from the broadcast. Right from the start I asked Rai to do it clarityproviding all the details of an affair that however one thinks of it puts the c. at serious riskviability of the Public Service and the image of our country also abroad. Next May 8 – added Floridia – there will be a hearing of Rai’s top management in the supervisory commission. It was a appointment already scheduled but which in light of everything that happened I would still have asked for. It will be there that those who administer RAI will have to give all the answers to Parliament and therefore to the citizens”.

It is a “serious tear, one incomprehensible forcing: methods already seen. The Rai Supervisory Commission is silenced by majority blows”, commented the dem deputy Stefano Graziano: “Parliament – he added – must be put in a position to shed light on a serious case of management of Rai. What are they afraid of? It won’t be the increasingly insistent rumors about direct contacts between Palazzo Chigi and the Rai top management for the management of the ‘Scurati case’ to worry Meloni?”, concludes Graziano. “Our appeal for common sense and to bring the debate that is underway throughout the country to the institutional place appointed to discuss it was of no avail: they preferred to censor even in surveillance“, wrote the M5S group leader in the commission in a note, Dario Carotenuto. “It’s not enough for him to do something private use of Rai – adds the parliamentarian – are pushing themselves to do the same with the Supervisory Commission, using it for their own use. When it came to calling Siegfried Ranucci to intimidate him after his investigations, they did so. Now they hide in the back specious formalities to prevent the commission from delving into a topic debated throughout the country. This sends a very wrong message and undermines the authority of the institution”, concludes Carotenuto.
