The Three-Body Problem, the television adaptation of Liu Cixin’s sci-fi literary saga, provided the creators of Game of Thrones with an opportunity for redemption after the finale of the HBO series. With a complex source material, the Netflix show is a good TV series with an ending that suggests a second season.
At the moment, however, all is quiet on Netflix: critics and the public have rewarded the TV series (and so have we, as you can read in our review of The 3 Body Problem) therefore it is not surprising that The 3 Body Problem is among the most watched series on Netflix and yet the news of an official renewal has not yet been disclosed.
The scifi series debuted on March 21, and at the time of writing, it’s still too early to fully understand the reception of the TV series. In recent years, in fact, Netflix has been very cautious with too hasty renewals: despite the incredible success of shows like Wednesday, the streaming giant in both cases waited until the time was ripe to announce the renewal. For the second season of the show with Jenna Ortega the fandom has waited almost two months on Netflix and probably the times will also be similar for The Three-Body Problem: the intention of David Benioff, DB Weiss and Alexander Woo is to bring three seasons on the small screen, adaptation of each book, and conclusion of the story.
