Roma pickpockets and “Italian swindlers”
All part of the recent story involving a young woman Pregnant Roma attacked by his own group in the Rome subway because he was guilty of not stealing enough. A disconcerting scene, which however gave us the opportunity to reflect on the conditions in which these girls live and what the modus vivendi of this reality.
“I don’t want to go back to the old adage, but… Not all Roma are pickpockets but many pickpockets are Roma“, was the comment of Giuseppe Cruciani, guest in the studio. Words that didn’t like Igor Stojanovic, Roma cultural mediator present in the broadcast. According to Stojanovic, Cruciani generalized too much. “I can? Last month two Italians scammed me. What can I say, that all Italians are thieves?“he blurted out. Clearly the studio has gone cold.”But what does scam have to do with it, here we are talking about something which is pickpocketing, we are not talking about scams, crimes… “, replied the journalist and presenter of The mosquito. “We know it very well, we must not attribute all the ills of Italy to the Roma community, no one does. But I repeat: there is one thing that is very clear, at least in the subways and in some areas of Italy“, It reaffirmed. “Let’s talk about minor crimes eh, minor crimes“, was then the response of Stojanovic, who attempted to minimize the issue.
The reaction from the studio was immediate Forehand and backhand where the discontent appeared palpable. Cruciani pointed out to the Roma mediator that it is easy to talk about “minor crimes” when one is not a victim of pickpocketing. Also Paolo Del Debbio he appeared annoyed. “But what does ‘minor crimes’ mean?” he commented, shaking his head. “Minor crimes… It was better if he didn’t say this“, commented the host of the program. “Then, if those who have to do things don’t do them, do-it-yourself justice is triggered“, he added, announcing the case of the attacked pickpocket. “The problem is not that they are being filmed. The problem is that they shouldn’t steal, they shouldn’t do it! Always the same old story!“, It reaffirmed.
The Roma pickpocket attacked
Another battleground was precisely theaggression suffered by the Roma pickpocket in Rome. A young woman who, we remember, was pregnant, but was beaten by other Roma. Stojanovic claimed to have also seen Italians attack a pregnant Roma woman in the same way, and Cruciani lost his temper. “Accusing people like this…“, protested the journalist, “so why didn’t you go to the police to report them?“.
