The search for the boy who disappeared from Codroipo last Saturday, found dead this morning, May 22, in the countryside of the small town in Friuli, ended in the worst possible way. The 23-year-old had left his home by bicycle in the middle of last Saturday. He should have reached, as usual, the restaurant where he worked; once out, however, he had never taken service. Since then, all traces of him had been lost. Now, according to what was confirmed by the mayor, Guido Nardini, the local authorities would have found his body.

Missing boy Codroipo found dead: Leonardo Cudini’s research ends in the worst possible way

He had left home around 12 last Saturday to go to the restaurant where he worked, “Spuntino di campagna”. He should have been on duty at 13, yet, once he left the family home on his bicycle, all traces of Leonardo Cudini were lost. The alarm was triggered when his employer, the owner of the club, not seeing him arrive, got in touch with his father, who in turn tried to call his son, without receiving any answers. After contacting the police, reporting his disappearance, the man had shared an appeal on social media, asking everyone to spread the news, with the aim of bringing him home.

The searches had started on Sunday morning, proceeding for the whole day without success, despite various reports. In this regard, in addition to the carabinieri, dozens of men from the local fire brigade and civil protection had also taken action. In the end, however, the investigation ended in the worst possible way. This morning the authorities would in fact have found the boy’s lifeless body in a countryside area of the small Friulian town. Leonardo would have walked away – in a black overalls and a black and yellow sweatshirt -, leaving his wallet, including documents, at home. His phone would ring for the last time around 3 am on Sunday. Then nothing more.

To confirm the sad news, the mayor of Codroipo, Guido Nardini, who in the past few hours wrote on social media:

Leonardo Cudini’s research ended a few minutes ago, unfortunately disappointing the hopes of all of us. I thank the effort and generosity of the many who in the last few hours have supported the excellent work of the Firefighters and Volunteer Firefighters, the Civil Protection of Codroipo, the Carabinieri and the military. I ask you not to forget this solidarity and this profound sense of duty as we silently and respectfully gather around the family and all those who had Leonardo at heart. Thank you.

We are now investigating to try to reconstruct what happened. Important news in this sense could come from the autopsy examination to which the body could be subjected for investigations in the next few days.

Found dead in Battipaglia Dario Capozzoli

A few days ago the lifeless body of Dario Capozzoli, the 45-year-old originally from Campagna who had disappeared a month earlier, was found lifeless in Battipaglia. The tragic discovery was made by some passers-by who, after noticing the man’s body in private land, immediately raised the alarm. Once they arrived at the scene, the agents were able to identify him because of the pouch found next to the body, containing all his personal effects, including documents. We are now working to clarify the dynamics of his death. For the moment, no leads have been excluded, not even that of the overdose, given that some syringes were also found nearby. The autopsy will confirm or deny this hypothesis. What is certain, considering the state of decomposition of the body and the objects found next to him, is that the man had been dead for some time, perhaps a few days after his disappearance, reported on 14 April.
