Gianluca Vialli’s illness
Gianluca Vialli in 2017 had announced to the world that he was sick with cancer, to be precise a pancreatic cancer. Although he had repeatedly defeated what he himself has always defined:
“an unwanted guest“,
has had more than one relapse. On several occasions the world of sport and his fans have been apprehensive about Vialli’s precarious conditions. His last success took place in 2021, when, with lifelong friend and goal brother Roberto Mancini, brought Italy to the top of Europe by winning the 2020 Euros played in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Today, 20 December 2022, Gianluca Vialli was admitted to a clinic in London where does he live with the wife Catherine White Cooper and daughters Olivia and Sofia. Already last week, to be precise on December 14, 2022, the former footballer had announced that he was temporarily leaving his position at the national team to devote himself completely to the treatment of his illness. These were his words:
“At the end of a long and difficult ‘negotiation’ with my wonderful team of oncologists I have decided to suspend, hopefully temporarily, my present and future professional commitments.”
Then he added:
“The goal is to use all the psycho-physical energies to help my body get through this stage of the disease, in order to be able to face new adventures as soon as possible and share them with all of you. A hug”.
