Pisa, 1st July 2024 – In the last few days in Aoup, in the management headquarters of the Nuovo Santa Chiara shipyard in Cisanello, the presentation entitled: “Salutogenic Hospital” was held with guest Alan Dilani, president of theInternational Academy for Design and Health (IADH) who developed and implemented, at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, the Salutogenic Design approach theory, successfully adapted in design and health policy projects.
The Salutogenesis (from the Latin salus = health and from the Greek creation) – a concept introduced in the late Seventies by Aaron Antonovsky, a medical sociologist with scientific studies on the theory of stress also conducted on Holocaust survivors – is everything that creates health and allows people, even in situations of great adversity (trauma, illness, disability, poverty), to make conscious health choices using internal resources (resilience) and proactive capacity.
In the meeting, organized by Francesca Dinelli, doctor of the Sas-High Surveillance Structure for the construction of the New Santa Chiara in Cisanello, Alan Dilani presented the best experiences worldwide on the impact that thearchitecturethrough a salutogenic process, on lifestyle, emotions and individual and collective experiences. A process that can also be applied to hospitals through design and layout choices, use of spaces and beauty of the environment, concepts that he explained by illustrating the principles of the salutogenic hospital. Present at the meeting were various company components involved in the various projects for the construction of the New Santa Chiara, the Rup-Single Procedure Manager Filippo Terzaghi and the administrative director of Aoup Grazia Valori.
