Gas leak in Ottavia this afternoon, Monday 1st July 2024: law enforcement officers immediately arrived on site for technical interventions. Roads closed in the area and stations in chaos: trains suspended and delayed Rome Viterbo line.
The intervention of the firefighters
As soon as the alarm was raised, the firefighters arrived on site. The 8A team and the CRRC reached via Trionfale at the height of the Ottavia station at 2:40 pm. Firefighters are still working on the broken pipe which turns out to be high pressure. The official on duty on site was also present with them. Some families from adjacent apartments were temporarily evacuated.

On site, in addition to the firefighters, also the agents of the XIV Montemario Group of the Local Police of Roma Capitale, who intervened with various patrols in via della Stazione di Ottavia. For security reasons the White Helmets took action immediately to close in both directions via Casal del Marmo, between via Trionfale and via della Stazione di Ottavia and via Trionfale, between via Casal del Marmo and via Ipogeo degli Ottavi.

As soon as we learned about the gas leak circulation between Monte Mario and La Storta has been suspended. The trains travelling on the Rome-Viterbo line are the ones most affected by the situation. In particular, the regional train is involved REG 23276 for Bracciano suppressed in San Pietro due to a gas leak in Ottavia. While the fire brigade is working, the station technicians have also been activated to allow regular traffic to resume.
