A 45-year-old man was arrested by the police for vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol. The soldiers of the Palestrina company carried out a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the Tivoli investigating judge against the man.
The provision was issued following investigations conducted by the Tivoli Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Carabinieri of the San Cesareo Station into a fatal accident that occurred along the Carchitti provincial road on 10 October, in which the two spouses lost their lives. Maurizio Ponzo e Alexandra Corradi and their minor children were seriously injured.
Drunk and drugged, taken to Rebibbia
The preliminary investigations judge’s custody order states that, following the investigations conducted, serious evidence of guilt was gathered regarding the fact that the man, under the influence of alcohol and psychotropic substances, allegedly drove the vehicle causing the fatal accident.
In particular, while he was traveling along the stretch of road at a speed of around 150 km per hour (the limit is 50 km per hour) he would have crossed the opposite roadway and collided with the victims’ car. He was arrested and taken to Rebibbia prison.
