A total of 120 migrants landed during the night between Linosa and Lampedusa. A group of 31 Egyptians, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Tunisians arrived independently in Pozzolana di Ponente on the smallest Pelagie island. The 7-meter boat was seized by the Carabinieri of Linosa.

The group, with a Guardia di Finanza patrol boat, has already been transferred to Lampedusa where the Romanian Frontex patrol boat rescued a vessel with 79 people on board, including 4 minors and five women, of Egyptians, Pakistanis and Syrians.

The migrants said they set sail from Tripoli and Tagiura in Libya. In the meantime, investigations have been launched into the death of a migrant who fell into the water and drowned because he fell asleep while he was on the edge of the dinghy. The police officers of the Flying Squad of the Agrigento Police Headquarters reconstructed what happened, after hearing some of the 47 migrants who landed in Lampedusa.

The agents, with the help of an interpreter, listened to Nigerians, Cameroonians, Ivorians and Malaysians who told what happened to the Ivorian who was not wearing a life jacket and who did not know how to swim. The person driving the dinghy, according to the stories, having heard the migrants’ screams, not only stopped the march, but went back trying to recover the man who, however, was not located also because of the darkness. No migrant dived into the water to look for him and the trafficker, after a while, resumed navigation towards Lampedusa.
