VILLANOVA MONTELEONE. This is what happened on Friday 28 June Villanova Monteleone during the last appointment with the food days of “Chenamos in carrela” conducted by the expert Thomas Sussarello.

After the mayor’s greetings Quirico Meloni and the president of the Proloco Pietro Timesthe coordinator Sussarello introduced the interventions aimed at a profitable comparison on the activation of a virtuous and collaborative process that accompanies local operators towards a supply chain objective. The breeder Salvatore Meloni he emphasized the fact that Sardinia paradoxically does not close the production cycle, so many Sardinian-born animals for fattening take the road to the continent, where a more structured system guarantees greater remuneration: «It must be said that in this process that we want to try to activate in Villanova, the main theme is to enhance a supply chain that takes into account the characteristics of the territory, therefore the peculiarities of our pastures, which is already an added value appreciated by the consumer».

The butcher Antioco Marras spoke about the importance of promoting these artisan crafts which have been carried on for centuries, and for this reason they need of a specific communication in order to indicate that you are present on the market, which does not at all disdain a short supply chain product. The critical issues, according to Marras, can be overcome by combining a romantic vision with an analytical one, which takes into account what may be the advantages and critical issues to be addressed.

Chef Fabio Zago’s intervention announced a proposal of carefully processed sheep meat in the form of fried meatballs accompanied by a medium-acid sauce. Pork and beef were assembled in a grill sausage with an intense flavor that surprised the tasters.

The evening began at 4pm in the ISOLA spaces, with the inauguration of “Open frames” created in collaboration with the association ArTeswhere those present could try their hand at working on the artisan loom. Late in the evening the younger ones had fun jumping on the “Fogalones di Santu Pedru”, with the entertainment of music and dance of the DJ Franco and Beppe.

Saturday 29 June the stands of “Open frames” are active from 9 in the morning to give space to the “Exhibition of handcrafted carpets” and to the “Exhibition of ancient musical instruments”. From 4.30 pm onwards, the performances of the Mamutzones of Samugheo, S’Urtzu and sos Bardianos di Ula Tirso, i Boes e Merdules of Ottana. Folk groups and masquerades are presented by Lucia Cossu.

At the end of the evening (at 8pm) there will be a large social dinner featuring roast veal, cooked entirely on a spit, and traditional Villanova dishes, followed by an evening of music and dancing with the musical group “Prendas” and DJs Giuseppe and Giovanni.

The initiative is part of the broad activity of the project “Chenamos in carrela” foreseen by the action line “Implementation of initiatives for the protection and enhancement of the heritage of intangible culture – Alboergo Project – Widespread hospitality in Villanova Monteleone”, promoted by the Municipality of Villanova and financed with PNRR funds. All events connected to the event are included in the program Hello&Trigu from the Chamber of Commerce of Sassari.
