BARLETTA – Another serious assault on June 26th against a train conductor who was the victim of a violent kick in the abdomen and then transferred to the emergency room. It happened at the station in Barletta yesterday and this was reported in a note from the unions. A traveler with a bicycle wanted to get on the Barletta-Fasano regional train without a ticket. The 30-year-old train conductor suggested that he go buy a ticket while she looked at his bike, but the man got angry and first verbally attacked her, then physically. The Carabinieri intervened immediately on the scene, stopping the person responsible, and 118. Fortunately, the woman did not suffer serious consequences.
«This unacceptable act adds to other serious and recent episodes of aggression committed in Puglia. The trade unions express solidarity and closeness to the workers who are victims of these dramatic episodes which demonstrate a growing “trend”. For some time Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti Uil, Ugl Ferrovieri, SLM Fast Confsal, Or.SA Ferrovie have been stigmatizing such criminal acts, asking for a real discussion to be opened at all levels. The companies of the FS Group involved, the Prefectures and the Puglia Region are therefore invited to intervene within their sphere of competence in order to combat and implement every possible action aimed at eliminating the phenomenon of acts of violence in railway areas and on trains”.
