(AGENPARL) – Wed 26 June 2024 PRESS RELEASE
LAZIO REGION, THE FIRST EDITION 2024
OF “LAZIO CINE INTERNATIONAL”
5 million for the competitiveness and internationalization of film productions and to enhance local locations.
Two meetings scheduled to illustrate the announcement and how to participate
Rome, 26 June 2024 – The first 2024 window of the “Lazio Cine International” call is currently open which – with an allocation of 5 million euros, half of which (2.5 million euros) reserved for audiovisual works of regional interest – supports the competitiveness and internationalization of film production companies and enhances local locations.
This is a non-repayable contribution that the Lazio Region grants up to 50% of the eligible costs and offers a maximum of 600,000 euros to support investments in audiovisual co-productions that involve the sharing of the Lazio industry with the foreign one, the distribution of international character of the products and the creation of works that offer international visibility to the tourist destinations of Lazio.
“Thanks to this new call for proposals, we continue to support businesses in one of the key sectors of our country. This is a concrete contribution that responds to recent requests for help from the film and audiovisual sector, with the dual objective of extending the benefit from the cultural industry to the tourism industry, to also enhance the film locations of Lazio and the hospitality of extraordinary but often little-known places”, says the vice-president of the Lazio Region and councilor for Economic Development, Trade, Crafts, Industry, Internationalization, Roberta Angelilli.
«I believe that this call is a great opportunity for producers who intend to create works of an international nature and who can also have the challenge of the quality of the work itself as an opportunity. The ability to tell stories is a great opportunity that producers can seize by also directing their works to a young audience who, obviously, could be new viewers. The Lazio Region, with the support of Lazio Innova, will make experts available to provide detailed information on the call, especially to those who have never participated. The Lazio Region is one more region to believe in cinema”, explains the head of the Autonomous Cinema Structure of the Lazio Region, Lorenza Lei.
The Lazio Region has included Lazio Cine International among the operations of strategic importance in the framework of the 2021-2027 programming of European funds, and in particular of the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), as the cinematographic and audiovisual industry represents a central sector for the economic and cultural development of the territory and for the relaunch and promotion of Lazio on the international scene.
The notice is aimed at SMEs and producers of cinematographic, television or web works with the aim of strengthening and improving the competitiveness of companies and their related activities, also through greater collaboration with foreign producers.
Another objective of Lazio Cine international is to offer greater international visibility to the tourist destinations of Lazio, in particular to places of artistic and cultural value which are today more marginal compared to a demand mainly concentrated on Rome, and therefore to strengthen and improve the competitiveness of the tourism sector.
The application for participation must be sent via Lazio Innova’s GeCoWEB Plus platform until 5pm on 19 July 2024.
