The driver of the car from which Egidio Antonio Robortaccio, the 25-year-old who died, in the night between Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th June, in an accident which occurred in viale Gandhi, on the outskirts of Foggia.
This is a 27-year-old boy, a friend of the victim and driving the car, a Lancia Ypsilon. The young man is defended by the lawyer Michele Sodrio who, after a conversation with his client, intervened on the matter, providing a reconstruction of what happened.
The 27-year-old was taking his friend home because he had drunk too much during the evening, spent watching the Italy-Croatia football match. During the journey – the lawyer said – the victim had tried several times, for fun, to throw himself from the car, opening the door. Despite the driver’s repeated attempts to bring the 25-year-old back to his senses, the young man then suddenly climbed onto the outside of the windshield, with the car moving but at no more than 40-45 kilometers per hour. At this point – explained the lawyer – the tragedy would have occurred, with the boy who, perhaps due to a loss of balance, fell violently onto the asphalt, dying instantly.
This is the version provided by the suspect, who following the accident was subjected to tests to detect the presence of alcohol and drugs. Also on this point, the lawyer specified that his client had only consumed a couple of beers during the evening and was perfectly lucid.
In the next few hours, the lawyer announced, an interrogation by the Public Prosecutor will be requested, as well as an autopsy and biological tests on the victim’s body.
