SOS Menaggio Hospital. The Lake calls together citizens, trade union forces, local and regional administrators and institutions and does so in view of the public meeting scheduled for Friday evening at 9pm in the auditorium of the “Jacopo Rezia” middle school in Menaggio (in via Camozzi). An evening organized by Committee for the Defense of the garrison.
The words of the regional councilor for Welfare Guido Bertolaso, who declared on ETV that the garrison would no longer manage emergencies, were a cold shower. But even the about-face arrived in recent hours by the Region, explaining that nothing will change, has thrown the population further into uncertainty. And it is still not clear what the future of the garrison will be.
“This meeting represents a crucial moment for our community – we read in the note released -. We strongly reiterate the position of our committee: the Erba-Renaldi hospital in Menaggio must return to full functionality, reversing the trend of recent years in which we have seen a progressive emptying of the facility and a frontal attack on the territory’s right to health”. This is how the Committee explains.
The committee announced that it will continue the battle for which it was born by asking “territorial and regional representatives to provide the necessary answers to citizens”. Last Monday’s summit convened by the president Attilio Fontana it ended with a partial reassurance: “The situation in Menaggio remains as it is”, this is the summary of what emerged. But this very answer is not entirely satisfactory. Skepticism remains because the current conditions of the hospital do not indicate the structure will be fully operational and greater guarantees are requested for the future.
