Undersecretary Bergamotto: reflect on the need to have a new meeting before defining the industrial plan
The production status of the plants, the business segments, the market trends and the challenges of the household appliance sector. These are the themes at the center of the first meeting on the next development steps of Beko Europe in Italy which was held at Mimit between vertices of the companyi labor unions and the Regions which host the sites of the company born last April 2nd from the Whirlpool-Arçelik agreement and active in production and trade of household appliances.
The discussion – which follows those in April carried out by the ministry first with the company and then with the workers’ representatives – was chaired by the undersecretary with responsibility for business crises, Fausta Bergamot, in the presence of the technicians of the Ministry of Labour, the Vice President Operations Beko Europe, Ilyas Kil, the Vice President Human Resources Beko Europe, Fabio Colombo, the representatives of the national secretariats of Fim-Cisl, Fiom-Cgil, Uilm-Uil and Ugl Metalworkers and local authorities involved. The company matters seven sites on the national territory (Fabriano, Comunanza, Carinaro, Siena, Cassinetta di Biandronno, Pero, None).
During the meeting Beko Europe – held at 75% from Ardutch BV (Dutch holding controlled by Arçelik) and al 25% from Whirpool EMEA Holdings LLC – underlined that it is carrying out productivity studies on Italian factories, analyzing the individual business segments and the competitive elements of all brands, in order to share the industrial plans for Europe in the coming months with the ministry and the social partners.
Having listened to the parties, Undersecretary Bergamotto invited Beko Europe to reflect on the need to have a new meeting before drafting the business plan and definition of strategic objectives of the company to best deal with the trade union and production needs of the individual territories.
