Three days of regattas in the waters in front of the Lido of Venice, which saw the participation of 16 historic boats built between 1858 and the 2000s. On Friday and Sunday the windward leeward races and on Saturday the coastal regatta in the waters in front of the port of Venice, won by Naif, Ivan Gardini’s 1973 Marconi sloop, which took first place in the Classic yachts.

This is an important stop in Venice for shipowners because it competes for the award of the 2024 AIVE Adriatic Cup.

I am very happy with this first edition of the Artù Chiggiato Trophy – commented President of the Compagnia della Vela Giuseppe Duca – and the collaboration with AIVE. The Club is very tied to traditions and this regatta was created with the aim of valorising and preserving wooden boats to keep the historical maritime memory alive.”

I was lucky enough to sail with Artù Chiggiato – he declared Nicolò de Manzini AIVE Councilor – and to have been able to listen to his stories. AND It’s very nice that the Compagnia della Vela has decided to name a regatta after Arthur. A shout out also goes to the regatta committee because it is not easy to organize a regatta field for boats that are not very fast, but he still managed to make us race with pleasure and passion.”

At the end of the event, the awards ceremony was held inside the Arsenale where, thanks to Vela Spa and the Venice Boat Show, the fleet was moored creating a spectacular scenography: “The collaboration with the Venice sailing club continues to propose international sporting events as a natural fil rouge of 360-degree attention to boating activated with the Venice Boat Show” he declared Fabrizio D’Oria, Operational Director of Vela Spa and Organizational Director of the Boat Show.

Present at the ceremony with the president of the CDV Giuseppe Duca and the councilor Dario Perini, the President of Vela Spa Piero Rosa Salva.

A unique experience even just entering the port inlets of Venice, being here in the marvelous Arsenale” – commented Roberto dal Tio of Serenity – “we won this trophy thanks to the team’s harmony.”
