The Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi will be in Verona in the next few weeks for a meeting in the Prefecture with the Administration and all the law enforcement agencies within the Provincial Committee for Security and Public Order. This is the commitment made after this morning’s meeting at the Interior Ministry in which Mayor Tommasi delivered the letter with the request signed by all 98 municipalities in the province to provide for the secondment of a magistrate from the Directorate to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Verona District Anti-Mafia (DDA) of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Venice and the establishment of an operational section of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate. Tools deemed necessary and fundamental to fight the mafia and organized crime, a need that has been felt for years now and confirmed by the reports and data of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate, and for which the Administration moved immediately, involving all the Municipalities of the Province for choral and shared action.
Aware of the Verona situation, Minister Piantedosi carefully welcomed the requests of the Veronese Municipalities, which in recent months responded in a united manner to the appeal of the Municipality of Verona by unanimously affirming that the right to legality has no political colour, because Legality is a fundamental right of citizens, and anyone who governs a community knows that ensuring respect for it is their duty.
Together with mayor Tommasi there were the councilor for Security, Legality and Transparency Stefania Zivelonghi, the president of the Province Flavio Massimo Pasini and the coordinator of the Mayors of the Province of Verona for Public Notice Daniele Zivelonghi and in connection the national coordinator of the Notice association Audience Pierpaolo Romani.
“In underlining the fruitful collaborative relationship between the police forces, carabinieri, finance and prefecture, we thanked them for their attention and sensitivity – explains the mayor Damiano Tommasi -. The Minister has in fact shown himself to be attentive to our territories and aware of the needs we have represented. In the coming weeks there will be an opportunity to meet again in Verona to continue the dialogue and to undertake paths that can strengthen the safeguards of legality in our territories”.
