The psychologist Vera Slepoj died at the age of 70 in Padua. As far as we know, the woman was taken ill in her home in the Euganean capital and emergency services were of no avail. Originally from Portogruaro, she graduated in Psychology at the University of Padua in 1977 with a thesis on “Deviance and control mechanisms in a current society”. In the early 1980s she published her first book, “Understanding Feelings.”
The life
The focus of his work was on the affective dimension of the human being. About this she Slepoj she had written several books and often participated in television programs for which she had become well known to the public. In her life there had also been an administrative experience, as councilor for culture and museums of the Province of Padua, between 1999 and 2004. She had also been president of the Italian Federation of Psychologists and of the International Health Observatory . “A loss not only for the scientific community – commented the mayor of Padua, Sergio Giordani – but also for the city, where she, originally from Portogruaro, had chosen to live after graduating from our University”.

The Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano expressed his condolences: “I learn with great sorrow the news of the passing of Vera Slepoj. A courageous woman, a scholar and psychologist of value, a writer and commentator who was able to investigate with depth and wit the human soul and our society. Having appreciated – he declared – her talents and cultural sensitivity, I asked her to be part of the Superior Council of Cinema and Audiovisual of the MiC. She will be greatly missed by her Veneto and by the whole of Italy my personal and Ministry’s deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
