Unfortunately this morning, the sixty-year-old from Castiglione del Lago was traveling on his two-wheeler along the A1heading north, when at altitude Sasso Marconifor reasons still under investigation by the traffic police, lost control of the vehicle and was thrown from the saddle. It was around 6.45am when the man ended up on the asphalt and then it was hit by a truck.
After the impact, the truck driver continued for a few meters, without realizing what had just happened, until a tire burst. Only at that point did the truck driver understand and stop in the first lay-by, alerting the emergency services. Nappini was immediately entrusted to the 118 health workers: his condition immediately appeared desperate. The injuries sustained in the collision with the heavy vehicle were very serious. And shortly after transport to the Maggiore hospital in Bologna, the sixty-one year old from Castiglione del Lago has died. To allow the intervention of the rescue services and the investigations by the Polstrada, necessary to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the tragic accident, the stretch of A1 between Sasso Marconi and Sasso Marconi Nord was closed, to then be reopened to the transit of cars and vehicles around 8am. Staff from the management of the 3rd Bologna section of Autostrade per l’Italia also intervened on site yesterday morning. In the time necessary for the agents and health workers to complete their work, the traffic suffered serious repercussionswith a queue of about 10 kilometers that was created in the direction of Bologna.
