The student Martina Chirizzi wins the prestigious “National Isipm Award”

Unisalento graduate Martina Chirizzi was awarded last 6 June by the Italian Institute of Project Management (Isipm) for her thesis on the application of project management techniques, methodologies and approaches for the management of innovative digital transformation projects in the fashion & luxury sector .

The 2024 Isipm prize was awarded to the doctor for the thesis entitled “Digital Transformation Project For Fashion and Luxury Sector: Insight from Prada” (supervisor: Professor of Economic-Management Engineering Valentina Ndou). In particular, Martina Chirizzi analyzed the management of two Digital Transformation projects based on Blockchain technology and implemented by Prada Group. The motivations and ways in which F&L companies exploit “Disruptive Technologies” to remain competitive, digitizing Operations and Customer Experience and combining innovation and sustainability were explored in depth.

The choice fell on the Prada Group for several fundamental factors: the Group aims to be a Driver of Change, translating the needs of the market and society into tangible actions that impact business models. Innovation, as Dr. Chirizzi highlights in her work, is in fact an integral part of Prada’s identity: the desire to broaden one’s horizons, experiment and seize every opportunity is therefore also reflected in the conception of the Aura Blockchain Consortium.

The most interesting and innovative aspect of the thesis, for which the graduate was awarded, is that relating to the integration between advanced technology, sustainability and project management in the luxury sector. The adoption of an approach based on project driven organization guarantees effective coordination and long-term success. This combination represents a model for the future of luxury, where exclusivity, environmental responsibility and strategic project management can coexist. Digital transformation, on the other hand, is vital today for companies to adapt to the current market. Their success depends on effectively managing long-term projects that meet customer expectations and take advantage of new opportunities. This process is not just about technology, but requires a complete restructuring of the work environment, processes and capabilities needed to proactively address change.

The doctor’s thesis had precisely this objective: to demonstrate how the success of innovative digital transformation projects requires change management at a system level, which includes various fundamental aspects such as the customer, stakeholders, corporate culture, communication plans , leadership styles and collaboration. A holistic approach essential for navigating the complexity and dynamics of an ever-evolving market, while ensuring long-term sustainability and innovation.
