After a terrible accident on the track that occurred in the Junior Supercup in Brazil, Lorenzo Somaschini, a young driver aged just nine, lost his life

The tragedy that therefore involves the very young man Lorenzo Somaschini can only leave us astonished: the little one in fact passed away alone nine years following a fall on the Interlagos circuit, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Aid was immediate, but proved useless given the severity of the injuries sustained.
Farewell to the pilot Lorenzo Somaschini: fatal accident
Lorenzo Somaschini was a nine-year-old Argentine pilot, who already seemed to show important qualities despite his age, to the point that several experts defined him as “the enfaint Argentine prodigy of engines”. However, we will never have a way of knowing if the expectations towards him will actually be respected: the child in fact died following the consequences reported on the Interlagos circuit where Formula 1 usually also races, in the Honda Junior Cup of the Brazilian Superbike championship. Free practice for the competition, a category that is part of Superbike Brasil, was underway on Friday the 14th.
Lorenzo, according to the story of those present, he had fallen at the exit of Pinheirinho, a historic curve on the track. The fear of what happened was immediately strong in everyone, especially because the little boy had hit his head in a traumatic way, which is why he immediately It is essential to act promptly in rescue operations. The doctors who intervened on site had managed to stabilize him, but already at that stage his condition had appeared very serious due to the violence of the impact.
Subsequently Somaschini, who would have turned 10 on July 17, 2024, was admitted to the city hospital, but later passed away. Already at the age of four he had shown a great passion for the world of motors, which is why his father had chosen to give him his first motorbike as a gift for his birthday. Shortly afterwards he started with the first races for his category, also obtaining decent results. He didn’t seem to lack ambition, which is why he always repeated to those who knew him: “My dream is to get to MotoGP, and I would like to become world champion“. Unfortunately, that desire will remain that way forever.
The organizers of the event announced the death in an official note: “All members of the SuperBike Brasil team are shocked by what happened and express sincere condolences to all of Lorenzo’s family and friends.”
