For the third consecutive year, the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Unit Command of the Carabinieri is preparing the deployment of specialized soldiers throughout the national territory for the summer period to combat the large fires that can occur in every corner of Italy.
An operation as noble as it is necessary, in which only soldiers who have attended the specific highly specialized course can participate.
The activation of the task force is based on the unforeseeable emergency need, therefore it must be organized with the shifts of colleagues who must provide their availability not to take leave and not to leave during the indicated period.
In fact, we remind you that interested parties must reach any area of the national territory, including islands, without delay, in any case within twelve to twenty-four hours.
It goes without saying that even in the event of failure to activate, the commitment of those soldiers is still present and has all the appearance of being “available”. This is not the case on paper, however: when it was formed, the task force was in fact born on the basis of volunteering dictated by the passion of the participating soldiers.
Today, it would be at least desirable to regularize availability, with relative financial compensation, which would act as recognition and a legitimate priority, better absorbable also by the other soldiers of the departments who include a member of the task force among their colleagues.
Also because these are not soldiers who then have discounts in ordinary service and are therefore subjected to greater commitment than the others.
