confcommercio Fvg and unions at work

The recent signing of an agreement between Confcommercio Fvg and the main trade union organizations of Friuli Venezia Giulia represents a significant step towardsimplementation of security policies more effective in the workplace. This pact was not born today, but is the result of a constant dialogue started before the pandemic and strengthened during the period of slowdown in activity.

Context and difficulties of SMEs in the sector

The trade, tourism and services sector in Friuli Venezia Giulia is largely made up of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, characterized by a limited number of employees. This dimension often makes it complex to implement safety management systems that comply with current regulations. The agreement, therefore, aims to overcome this challenge by introducing the crucial role of Workers’ representative for safety (Rlst)a key figure for the consultation and participation of workers in prevention and health protection.

The role of the Rlst and its designation

An innovative aspect of the agreement is the designation of the Rlst not among company employees, but through trade union organizations on a provincial basis. This choice aims to guarantee a competent and independent figure, capable of focusing exclusively on job securitywithout the typical distractions of daily business activities.

Safety: a benefit for workers and businesses

The president of Confcommercio Fvg, Gianluca Madriz, underlines that safety at work is not only an obligation to be fulfilled, but represents a strategic interest for businesses. A safe working environment not only improves employee well-being, but also contributes to greater business productivity, resulting in economic and social benefits for society as a whole.

Satisfaction of the parties involved

The trade union organizations Filcams Cgil Fvg, Fisascat Cisl Fvg and Uiltucs Fvg express satisfaction with the achievement of this important milestone. According to them, the Rlst will have a fundamental role in improve attention to safetyespecially in small businesses where other priorities often risk relegating the health of workers to the background.

Structure and functioning of the committees

The agreement provides for the establishment of a Regional Joint Committee within the Regional Committee of Bilateral Bodies. This committee will be made up of representatives of both Confcommercio Fvg and the trade union organisations, with the task of managing the operational part of the initiative. The possible establishment of Joint Territorial Committees will contribute to extending the training and support action to local realities, acting as a point of reference for training and resolving disputes in the field of workplace safety.
