High fire risk, Roberti signs the decree. Warning for the African heat wave

Summer has arrived and entered the alley with a first heat wave which will be followed by another, announced by weather experts as ‘hot’ especially in the south, with temperatures that in the next few days could reach 38 degrees especially in the internal areas. For the phenomenon of fires it is a strong risk factor.

Just today the president of the Molise Region, Francesco Roberti, declared the period of serious danger for fires from 17 June to 30 September. The Governor signed the ad hoc decree, on the basis of which the regional Civil Protection activated the Permanent Unified Operations Room (Soup) to monitor the situation.

There are several prohibitions imposed by the provision: you cannot light fires in pine forests, woods and pastures, nor use flame devices, explosives or anything that produces sparks. Smoking or throwing away lit cigarettes is also prohibited. Fireworks are also banned, with some (regulated) exceptions. Violators will be fined.

If you see a fire, you must immediately notify the Civil Protection or local authorities, providing precise details on the location of the event. For emergency reports, citizens can contact the toll-free number of the Civil Protection Service of the Molise Region (800 120 021), the Regional Operations Room (0874 7791), the environmental emergency number of the Carabinieri (1515) or the National Corps of Fire Brigade (115).

The authorities have asked all managers of campsites, tourist villages and accommodation facilities to create protection zones and adopt fire protection measures. Public infrastructure management companies are also required to keep adjacent areas clean to prevent fires.
