Prevention of forest fires: experts meeting in Ariano

Ariano Irpino

The national event on the prevention of forest fires promoted by Uncem with the department for cohesion policies and for the south of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers will be held in Ariano Irpino on 21 June at 10.30 am in the civic and ceramic museum .

Forest management and civil protection experts will speak, with mayors, administrators, volunteers, forestry workers who will dialogue with the speakers on the present and future of fires in times of climate change and demographic crisis.

The “Fire Decree” of September 2021 allocated 100 million euros for the internal areas of the country to be invested in the prevention of forest fires.

40 million are still to be allocated to the territories. During 2023 and 2024, Uncem accompanied mountain communities and unions in spending the first 40 million euros, with an in-depth and training course.

“In Ariano Irpino we take stock with mayors, administrators, experts, volunteers, university professors, citizens involved in prevention activities, forest management, monitoring, fire prevention, risk reduction and emergencies. Because we increasingly need to prepare for events of large dimensions – explains Marco Bussone, national president of Uncem – we need training, synergies, and also economic resources. A strong commitment from local authorities, from municipalities together, is decisive to be ready, to carry out adequate prevention by involving the entire communities. We’ll talk about it on Friday in Ariano Irpino, also defining a new strategic agenda.”
