The third day of Euro 2024 begins. The first match Poland-Holland ended 1-2, while Slovenia drew with Denmark 1-1. Serbia-England began at 9pm in Gelsenkirchen, preceded by clashes between ultras. Yesterday Spalletti’s Italy beat Albania 2-1 in their debut match in the competition (THE GROUP AND CALENDAR – REPORT CARD FOR JUNE 16).

The chronicle of Slovenia-Denmark

Denmark started aggressively and took the lead in the 17th minute: Wind backheeled Eriksen who shot from close range and made no mistake. Slovenia tries with Sesko and Sporar, Hjulmand’s team at the end of the first half comes close to doubling the lead again with Eriksen. In the second half Slovenia attacked, hit the post with Sesko and then equalized in the 77th minute with a shot from Janza which, deflected by M. Hjulmand, mocked Schmeichel.

The news of Poland-Holland

The Orange national team immediately started aggressively and in the 2nd minute Gakpo forced Szczesny into a save, but it was Poland who took the lead in the 16th minute with a header from Buksa. In the 29th minute Gakpo equalized and soon after devoured the 2-1. Then an opportunity for Depay, who blocks with his chest in the area and finishes at the edge of the post. In the second half the Netherlands wasted on the counterattack: Reijnders slotted in for Gakpo who fed Simons on the left who however shot wide. Then double chance for Poland with Kiwior and Zielinski, Verbruggen saves. In the 70th minute Szczesny saves again, decisive in a new descent by Dumfries. In the 83rd minute Weghorst, who had just entered the pitch, turned it around: 2-1 for the Netherlands. At the end Swiderski was very close to equalizing, but Verbruggen said no.

The Azzurri calendar

Spalletti’s Italy is called to defend the title won in 2021 at Wembley. Starting from the fourth pot after the second place achieved in the qualifiers, the Azzurri were included in group B together with Spain, Croatia and Albania. The first day was against Sylvinho’s Albania, beaten 2-1. This will be followed by the match against Spain scheduled for June 20th and finally the last match against Croatia, on June 24th in Leipzig. The winner of the group will play the round of 16 match against one of the best third-placed teams on 30 June.
