On June 14th the World Blood Donor Daya date chosen to commemorate the birth day of Karl Landsteiner, discoverer of blood groups, and as per tradition on the Sunday following this anniversary, Avis of Cremona celebrates its donors with the delivery of Gold and Ruby badges to those who made 75 donations.
“It’s a way to celebrate the activity of donors and we hope it will be a stimulus for more important goals,” he said Giuseppe Scala, the president of Avis Cremona. Even President Sala, a donor since the age of 18, has reached 75 donations despite the iron deficiency which prevents him from donating more than twice a year.
During the morning also the intervention of Andrea Contisportsman and general manager of Vanoli Basket to raise awareness of the importance of donation.
“It’s an experience that fills me with pride: I’ve been donating blood for almost 20 years, first as a player, now as a sports manager and father of a family” added Andrea Conti, General manager of Vanoli Basket and donor. “I’m very happy, it’s something that makes you feel good, donating is important especially for those in need. We live this day with great pride.”
