CIVIDALE Ecstasy Dinamo Gorizia. Coach Gigi Tomasi’s team also beats Sennori in game 2 and wins promotion to inter-regional B.
It is the highest point ever reached by the company founded in 1998 by president Tiziano Palumbo and a group of friends who are now the heirs to the glories of Gorizia basketball. Coach Tomasi starts with Scutiero, Schina, Colli, Macaro and captain Braidot but the first basket of the match is by Sennori with Cordedda, Colli responds but the Sardinians immediately make it clear that they have arrived in Cividale with the desire to ruin the party.
At 4′ Sennori reaches +4 (9-5) with a Cordedda on fire and Tomasi intervenes with the first changes, inserting Franco and Luis for Braidot and Macaro. Scutiero takes care of letting Dinamo breathe and begins to pierce the retina from 3 points, a specialty of the house. Two triples from the former Falconstar and Colli’s baskets move the +4 to Dinamo’s side (13-9). Coach Gabriele Piras’ team, however, did not lose their composure and with a flash from Tola they took the lead again (15-13 away).
Cestaro’s triple allows Dinamo to close the first quarter tied at 17. In the second half Scutiero is always the point of reference for the attack of the blacks from Gorizia but on the other side the feared Hubalek, who until then was dry, begins to heat up . Total balance until the 17th minute when Dinamo returned to +4 with the usual Scutiero and Colli and would have the chance to extend after an unsportsmanlike foul but the former Czech Republic international scored 4 points in a row and Dinamo took the lead at half-time it is just one length at 35-34.
Upon returning from the locker rooms the Sardinian team tries to push forward by leaning on Hubalek who becomes unstoppable, Sennori holds the lead for a few minutes but only by a single possession, with Dinamo making a lot of mistakes but doing a great job in offensive rebounding especially with Macaro which scores from below.
In the 27th minute of the match, Sennori reaches +3 with Tola and misses the +6 triple with Tola himself which would have put pressure on Gorizia. Dinamo, however, holds on and escapes the danger: a 7-0 counter-partial opened by 3 free throws from Scutiero and at the third siren coach Tomasi’s team is once again at +4.
The emotional drive of the Sardinians wanes, the wingers no longer score and Hubalek, 42 years old, begins to pay the price of tiredness: at the beginning of the last half Dinamo runs away with a triple from Colli and 6 consecutive points from captain Braidot, extraordinary. Cestaro adds a triple and in the middle of the half Gorizia is +12 at 64-52. It seems over but a general relaxation and the great heart of the Sardinians reopen everything in the 38th minute with Sennori reducing the margin to -2 (68-66).
However, a gigantic Colli takes care of re-establishing the distances and making the Dinamo people’s joy explode. —
