The arrival of the beautiful season ignites the desire for holidays and the sea in Italians who, as has often happened in recent years, are forced to deal with their wallet. Like every year, also in 2024, the ranking of the most expensive beaches in Italy has been created, a useful guide for those who need to combine their holiday with low costs.

Also this year at the top of the ranking is Alassio, where for a week in an establishment you can spend up to 392 euros. Furthermore, on a general level, in 2024 in Italy a place on the beach will cost on average 4% more than last year.

The survey on the costs of Italian beaches in 2024 was conducted by Altroconsumo which, like every year, monitors the price trend in the seaside sector. Under the magnifying glass there are 10 coastal cities of the country, with the analysis covering a total of 211 establishments.

The rates verified by the research specifically concern the establishments present in Lignano, Rimini, Senigallia, Viareggio, Palinuro, Alassio, Gallipoli, Alghero, Taormina and Giardini Naxos and Anzio, with the seaside establishments that were contacted anonymously to find out the rates of an umbrella and two sunbeds for the week from 4 to 10 August.

The results say that, on average, a first row at the factory in Italy costs 226 euros, with the sum being reduced by shifting attention to the subsequent rows. For a second row the average cost is 210 euros, for the third 199 euros while from the fourth onwards it is 186 euros.

In the survey on the most expensive beaches in Italy in 2024, specific data relating to the individual cities taken into consideration are also provided. At the top, as mentioned, is Alassio which once again this year proves to be the least economical bathing location in the Bel Paese: for an umbrella and two sunbeds in the first row in the reference week you need an average of 392 euros, in the second row 384 euros , in third place 352 euros and from fourth onwards 314.

This is followed by Gallipoli (average cost of the first row 289 euros), Alghero (239 euros), Taormina and Giardini di Naxos (215 euros), Palinuro and Viareggio (both with an average cost of 209 euros), Rimini (165 euros), Lignano ( 164 euros), Senigallia (155 euros). As regards Anzio, it was not possible to obtain from the researchers the data relating to the prices of the front row of the local establishments in the week taken as reference.

Altroconsumo it also provides a direct comparison between the 2024 and 2023 data relating to the most expensive beaches in Italy. In locations such as Lignano, Taormina and Giardini Naxos the average cost of the first four rows has remained unchanged compared to last season, while elsewhere there have been increases.

In Alghero and Gallipoli there was a +2%, in Alassio, Anzio and Palinuro a +3%, while in Rimini and Viareggio a +4 and a +5% respectively. The greatest increase in the price of beaches is recorded in Senigallia (+8%), with the growth still being in line with inflation and which does not prevent the location from maintaining its status as the cheapest among those taken into consideration.
