“Yesterday afternoon, in Palermo where he lived and worked, our fellow villager Giampaolo Abeltino suddenly passed away (Gianni to his family and friends): He was 60 years old”. Don Paolo Pala, parish priest of Palau in Sardinia, wrote this in a post published today 16 June 2024 on his Facebook profile, referring to one of his fellow citizens who was an 118 driver who died on Saturday 15th aboard a taxi in via Dante… Giampaolo Abetino …, he had just been discharged from the Turin clinic after being admitted for some cardiac checks… he had been checked twice in the Cardiology department of the Ingrassia hospital in the last two weeks.
Don Pala added: “We still don’t know when the funeral will be celebrated. Our most affectionate condolences go to his daughter Brenda, his father, his dearest uncle Paolino Abeltino, his sister Marilena, his brother Nando, Maria and all his family members in Italy and the USA.”
Don Pala concluded: “May the Lord welcome Gianni’s soul into His peace, rewarding him for his goodness, the finesse of his features, and his love for his family and profession. Now he is in the company of his mother, aunt Franca”.
