JESI, 16 June 2024 – Firenze wins over Jesina Water Polo 7-13.
The lions played a heartfelt match, but it wasn’t enough to stem the Tuscans’ play.
Mr Vastola’s grenade, in front of an audience that would be the envy of higher categoriesthey held and withstood the comparison with the Tuscans for almost two halves, but between the end of the second set and half of the third, they suffer a 6-0 break which, in fact, extinguishes Jesi’s ambitions and projects the Tuscan team into the return match with a certain certainty.
At Jesina, there is a bit of regret for not having taken advantage of some favorable opportunities.
Even in defeat, which leaves little room for optimism, Mr Vastola is positive: “The match was a good match – tell us -. We started very well in the first half and we were in the game until the second half. Then the technical strength and experience of the opposing team emerged in the third set when they secured the result. Our goalkeeper Pecci also saved 2 penalties, demonstrating that he is a young man of great value. The opponents have demonstrated that they are already a team built and assembled for the B series. However, it must be said that in the first 5 minutes neither of the two teams in the water scored, testifying that on our side they really did their best and approached the ‘meeting with the right attitude. Then we must recognize that the opponent is a more complete and experienced team as it also has athletes in its squad who have also played in A2. We played our game and we are happy to have reached these finals. On June 22nd we will go to Florence with the desire to win and pride.”
In the other final Bologna won 10-9 at Certaldo.
Now head to Florence, next Saturday, to try to do the feat; we will need to win against Dream Sport with at least 7 goals difference to achieve promotion to Serie B.
