A confirmation and a novelty in the “pink”. These are the first changes within the council five days after the reconfirmation of mayor Maurizio Verona for the third term in a row. The “Commitment for Stazzema” group has in fact chosen the two councilors who will make up the council, which has gone from four members to two as the municipality has fallen below 3 thousand inhabitants. The confirmation concerns the councilor and vice mayor Alessandro Pelagatti, first of those elected with 145 preferences. A choice made in the name of continuity and respecting the outcome of the elections. To guarantee the female quota, the mayor had to choose a woman as the second department.

Among the seven elected councilors, “Impegno per Stazzema” did not obtain any female seats, which is why Verona, in agreement with the team, had to choose an outsider. The choice fell on a figure with a high cultural and professional profile, an experienced woman who knows the history and the municipal area well. This is the (recently retired) professor Anna Guidi, who accepted the position after a conversation with the mayor. In the next few days, the delegations assigned to the two councilors and the majority councilors will also be made public. “I thank the citizens for the broad consensus obtained – says Pelagatti – which demonstrates the esteem towards me and the team I am part of. My commitment will not only be to work to complete the projects we started in the previous mandate, but also identify new objectives and strategies that meet the needs of the entire Stazzemese community, helping to increase its competitiveness in the various sectors: from work to healthcare, from culture to tourism. Finally, I thank the mayor of Verona for the trust he has renewed in me comparisons with this nomination”.

Anna Guidi, who carried out historical research on Stazzema which resulted in the book “La Madonna del Piastraio, storia di una devotion” (published by the Region) and collaborates with “Tuscany today-Vita nova”, feels proud of this department. “I am honored by this position – she underlines – because I have always been linked to the municipality of Stazzema. In Ranocchiaia, the Alpe di Pruno, I have had my favorite home for 43 years. Furthermore, my father, Matteo Guidi, was from Pruno and he was on the city council for many years. And I have always worked both to enhance mountain tourism in Alta Versilia when I was vice president of the tourist promotion company and to get the historical Museum of the Resistance of Sant’Anna di Stazzema off the ground.”
