PALERMO – Still attacks in Sicilian prisons. Last night, in Ucciardone prison in Palermoan inmate has set on fire a gas canister throwing it towards a police officer penitentiary.
The attack and the fire
The criminal was in disciplinary isolation, locked up in the ninth section. The man set fire to a supplied gas canister to use as a Molotov cocktail and threw it at a policeman.
The wound he was then forced to go to the Emergency room. Thus reports the unionist of the Uil penitentiary police, Gioacchino Veneziano.
The fire in the cell led the officers to evacuate the room.

The trade unionist Veneziano says: “We are at war in prisons, and politics together with the administration must take note of the management failure, because now incidents of violence cannot be managed in prisons. It’s time to think seriously about structures suitable for containing subversive subjects, replenishing the deficient workforce. In Sicily, the shortages also certified by the Department stand at around 800 units“.
Attack in Ragusa prison
Another attack in a prison occurred in Ragusa. A prisoner of foreign nationalitystaging an attempt to suicideclimbed onto the window grates, with a noose tied around his neck.
At the entrance of the policemen who came to his aid, he began to attack with unprecedented fury kicks and punches against them, also using a blunt object taken from the electrical socket in the room and used as a brass knuckle.
