A first meeting took place yesterday evening between the island’s promoters for the establishment of a boy scout group on the island of Ischia. The Boy Scouts are a national, international and universal movement whose ultimate goal is the physical, moral and spiritual education of the world’s youth. The Boy Scouts were born in 1907 from an idea of their founder, English lieutenant general Robert Barden-Powell, through the application of an educational method based on volunteering andabout learning by doing” through outdoor activities and in groups offering the opportunity to make friends and have educational experiences while having fun. To date, Scouting has a total of more than forty million members and is one of the largest non-formal education movements in the world. And today it is unthinkable how a beautiful area rich in natural resources like the island of Ischia is devoid of an associative reality like the Boy Scouts. And this is why, in order to create the group “Boy Scout Ischia Island“, the Gulf Islands Youth Publishing Association seeks volunteers adults in order to set up the local group and subsequently start activities for the kids.
